drifting leaf

a journey...of moments...of discovery...of the colours of emotion...of the design of nature... to a place unknown...yet known...a place within...yet far away... between the realms of the earth and the sky... between reality and dreams... just a leaf...one lonely leaf...drifting...but always moving...

Of Flyovers and Precision…

So my route home has been disrupted for the past year because of the construction of a flyover that will bypass the domestic airport junction… and everyday as we wait in the traffic, I look up simply amazed… I love the 15 to 30 mins we spend passing that little stretch… it’s a wonder… I just love watching the progress.. marveling at the level of organization and the degree of precision such a project demands… I have a million questions and look out wonderstruck…
It motivates me to think of what we could do if we had that level of precision and detail in our work places… : ) love love love the thought of it!

Does cement come pre-mixed?
How do they bend all the rods? What does the tool look like?
The pre fabricated pieces of the flyover… where are they made? How huge that place must be?
How far do they travel to get here?
What is the level of the skill of the workforce?
How do they know exactly where to place what? I see no computers / huge sheets of paper that they are referring to…
I love the giant moulds that they use for the pillars…
How come the cement does not stick to the moulds?
Do they line / prepare the mould like we do for cakes??
What if they make a minor mistake? What kind of ramifications does that have?
Does the person in charge of the project sleep at night soundly?? I would not…

I feel like its my very own project… well, as you can see, I know very little about it but I get so excited every time I pass it… I’m always on the look out for progress and changes and even get upset if miraculously there is no traffic…
Some fascinations remain a mystery… this one is very high up on my list of mysterious fascinations…
